Buenos Dias
Hi, well I made it safely here to Cuenca, Ecuador.
After a very early start Saturday managed to catch the right flight after slight detour to the wrong terminal ! Arrived 17 hours later in Quito , by which time all I wanted to do was sleep.
Sunday, I braved the old town of Quito, after all the warnings Iīd received from the people at the hotel I was staying at I was begining to think London was a much safer place to be in! Needless to say I was fine except for some sunburn & getting soaked to the skin by torrential rain in the afternoon. A short flight to Cuenca where I was met by my host family. Luckily the mother of the family had brought her sister along who was an English professor so my very poor spanish & her total lack of english wasnīt a problem.
Yesterday was the first day of classes, wasnīt told the results of the assessment test which was a good thing I think, there were several questions I knew I had no clue about. There are 3 of us in my class, a swiss guy who is by far the best one of us, and a kiwi girl. Classes start at 3 finish at 7and itīs really tiring ! So mornings are set aside for homework with the odd bit of internet, maybe a coffee or two also...
Itīs a beautiful day here, bright sunshine, my commute into school sure beats the Drain, a 25 minute walk along the green tree lined banks of a river....well must go and do my homework, just need to find a nice quiet sunny spot....
