Capital – John Lanchester

From one of the least densely populated parts of the globe to one of the most as John Lancaster’s novel is set a south west London during the months leading up to August 2008’s global financial crisis – much more familiar terrain for me!

Great characters and a cracking read, showing the variety of lives that exist in London and the role money – and fate – can play in each of them. Capital also brought to mind Philip Hensher’s The Northern Clemency, although I’d have to reread it [The Norther Clemency] to work out why.
