Golden Fool – Robin Hobb

The politics and intrigue that brought Tom Badgerlock (aka Fitz) and his adopted son Hap back to Buckkeep in the first part of The Tawny Man continue: the betrothal of Prince Dutiful to the Narcheska of the Out Islands coincides with an ill timed delegation of Bingtown merchants who have more than trade on their agenda – and both groups have tales of dragons to share; Queen Ketticken continues to seek a way to allow witted and unwitted to live together peaceably in the Six Duchies.

More changes come to pass as Fitz and the Fool fall out, Prince Dutiful and Thick develop their very different abilities with the Skill, and Fitz discovers similar talents in his bastard uncle Lord Chade and distant daughter Nettle.
