The Emperor Far Away – David Eimer

Former Telegraph and Sunday Telegraph correspondent, David Eimer, takes us on a fascinating tour of the people and politics in China’s borderlandsXinjiang (Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Afghanistan, Pakistan, India and Russia), Tibet (India, Nepal, Bhutan and Myanmar), Yunnan (Myanmar, Laos and Thailand – aka the infamous Golden Triangle) and the three provinces of Dongbei (aka Manchuria) – Liaoning, Jilin and Heilongjiang (North Korea and Russia).

This map I made highlights the six provinces. Zee Maps’ free Map Creator tool only allows 5 provinces, and Xinjiang is missing from the list, so Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region is DIY using their polygon outliner option. You may need to zoom out a little….
